My Life According to Flyleaf

So, found this awesome tag a while ago, and I can't remember just who its from...but, I'm gonna give it a try...here are the rules:

Rules:

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions. You can't use the band I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It's a lot harder than you think! Repost as "My life according to (band name)."

This should definitely be interesting and I'm not sure how this is actually going to work...but *rolls eyes* well, either way it'll be interesting XD.

Luvs Me Some Music

I'm loving this song that Flyleaf's Lacey Mosley did with Orianthi...

Etsy

Something I have failed to mention before, is that I have an Etsy shop!
It hasn't been up long, and as of right now its mostly items made by my mom and dad, but I have a couple things of mine that I have made and designed that I'm trying to sell.

My best creation currently up for grabs is this beautiful black jade & silver  jewelry set.

Its a cool and beautiful combination of black jade and silver. Its one of those necklaces that you just love to wear because it feels so perfect. Combined with the bracelet and earrings it makes for an exquisite set to be worn on a special occasion, whether its a family get-together, the winter formal or a Christmas party with friends.

New Design!!!

Hey! If you haven't seen it yet, make sure to come check out the new blog design!

Exciting News!

Justice & Mercy (Violent Love Version)

We can't be oblivious,
We are not ignorant,
Blood in our hearts,
Blood on our hands,
We're human,
we reason,
we're breathing,
Protecting
the living
and dying,
surviving,
We're trying
to breathe
in safety,
Come home safely
Mercy screams
its violent love,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
The depth of us
created for,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
This is where they kiss
Life here sacrificed,
Someone who paid the price,
Blood in our hearts,
Blood on our hands,
We cry out,
we're fighting,
it's warfare,
we're dying,
Believing
we're winning,
it's ending,
we're singing,
It's already done,
we've overcome
Mercy screams
its violent love,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
The depth of us
created for,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
This is where they kiss
With a life on the line (Fire!),
That consumes or refines (Fire!),
To ascent or decline,
to retreat or to climb,
Out of sight, out of mind
'til attacked from behind.
Will this fire resume or refine?
Mercy screams
its violent love,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
The depth of us
created for,
Justice and mercy,
justice and mercy,
And this is where they kiss

Firstly, I have been very busy these past few days working on a new blog design (in my spare time) for this very blog, though I am having some trouble figuring out things as I go along (things I can't seem to find tutorials for and so am figuring it out as I go) hopefully it will be ready soon!!! I've tired of the pink...because I don't really like pink, except with black and so it was my original vision for Concrete & Grace, but I'm going to be changing it to black and blue.

In different exciting news, the much awaited (by me at least) new EP from Flyleaf released yesterday...I of course purchase it as soon as I could.

And it's as marvelous as ever.

I don't think there's anything Lacey Mosley can't sing, her voice is always awesome, whether in the screaming, or the beauty of their acoustic and slower songs, it's all brilliant. Not only that, but the lyrics...oh the lyrics...being a writer (usually of things in song or poem format) I have a deep appreciation for such and was definitely once again, not let down.

Capturing Creation Photo Challenge Day 4

Day 4: Let there be the Sun, Moon and Stars.

"And God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also."

-Genesis 1:14-16

I know its really hard to tell, but that is the moon...it was an absolutely beautiful night, but unfortunately I didn't have a good enough camera to quite capture it...

Christmas Music

Normally I'm not one for Christmas music, I tire of hearing the same thing year after year, after year.
However, last year I invested in the awesome music...Relient K's Let it Snow Baby, Let it Reindeer Christmas album. (available during the holiday season as an MP3 download for only $5 from Amazon, I highly recommend it).

Because I was so highly anticipating listening to my awesome Christmas music this year, I actually started listening to it a few days before Thanksgiving!

Now, I do like the more rock versions of the traditional Christmas songs, but I really must give props to BarlowGirl for their awesome vocals on this traditional version of the Carol of the Bells:

But back to the topic of that awesome rockin' Christmas music.

As far as originality, and a completely new song, I love Relient K's Santa Clause is Thumbing to Town, which, unfortunately I could not find a video of on YouTube...you'll all just have to trust me on its level of awesomeness.

Another new Christmas song, is from Flyleaf from one of their original EP's: I LOVE IT:

Now, I don't know if any of you have by chance seen Mean Girls...but, it really ruined Jingle Bell Rock for me and I haven't really liked the song since...but Thousand Foot Krutch has brought it back for me in their version:

I love BarlowGirls version of Carol of the Bells, I love to listen to it because its such a beautiful song, but this here, is an awesome instrumental rock version:

Hoping you're all getting into the Christmas spirit as well!

Creatively Fickle

Okay, so, its the beginning of a new month, and I'm wanting to do something different...

I'm a person that is always changing my blog design...when I had my first personal blog (which was invite only) I changed it probably every couple weeks, if not more...of course I was using pre-made templates that I took fancy to, and no one actually ever really saw it, but it was just something I liked to change with my mood and fancy. I think you could call me creatively fickle.

Anyway, since I am still always wanting to change my blog design, but I prefer using my own designs it doesn't happen as much..

But as of late, I have had, in my head a new, and simpler design idea for Concrete & Grace...well, really, a new much less busy header idea. I do love my header, but its just a bit...too much if you know what I mean. And a week or so ago, I suddenly got an idea for a header that I'm hopefully going to be working on in my spare (ha!) time possibly this weekend...

I've also been tossing around the idea of a seasonal design that I change every few months or so...I've just loved what AwelOliva, Hannah, and Nzkiwigirl have done with it...unfortunately, as of right now I'm too swamped with school and I won't be able to do such. However I am considering on possibly working on a little something-something over Winter Vacation.

So, there is definitely somewhat of a simpler Concrete & Grace coming your way (hopefully) soon.

Capturing Creation Photo Challenge Day 3

Well, its Day 3 of the Capturing Creation Photo Challenge over at Yours Truly, and so its time for more pictures!

This one I took just this summer. We leveled our yard and so it was kind of dirt and puddles for a while. We live in a building thats over 100 years old however (quite a history there) and so we found lots of interesting things in our yard when we were restoring it to its original level.
Like bottles, lots of vintage bottles.
I think my favorite thing I found though would be the coke bottle bottom I found. Its really cool because the glass is un-even (in thickness)  all the way around, the inside, the sides, the bottom...it makes that whole "coke bottle glasses" thing make a bit more sense.

This one I took just a couple days ago. (I'll have more pictures up shortly!)

blessings to you all on this gloriously snowy Wednesday!

Concerts & Capturing Creation Photo Contest Day 2

So, last Monday, I had an epically awesome time at the my local stop on RED's Nothing & Everything Tour with Disciple, Head and Silverline.

It was SO much fun!

Great music, great friends, awesome times.
Now, unfortunately, I didn't have the camera, so I didn't get any pictures :( I did however have my iPod Touch and did manage to get some video...but sadly no average camera is made to withstand that and have clear audio.

I had a lot of fun and ended up buying Disciple's new CD Horseshoes & Hand Grenades and yesterday my mum bought RED's album End of Silence.
So lots of new music I'm listening to.

It seems like winter has arrived where I live...I woke up the other day to find it had snowed 4"-6" and was still coming down!!! But its okay now because we're coming up on Thanksgiving and as long as it waits 'til after Halloween (which to me, is pretty much the end of fall) to snow, then I'm good with it.
Since then, for the past few days we've had some cccccooolllddddd weather! We're talking in the land of below freezing and zero. BRRRRRRRR
I'm hoping it'll warm up a bit and snow more so hopefully I can do some snowboarding this year!

Since its Wednesday (I almost forgot! oops!) I have another installment of my photography for the Capturing Creation Photo Challenge over at Yours Truly! Since its Day 2 the focus is...Let There Be Heavens

“The God said, “Let there be the firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

Hope you're all having a blessed (and warmer!) Thanksgiving week with family and friends!

Hey Everybody!--Capturing Creation Photo Challenge: Day 1

Hiya peoplez and random readers!

Got some cool stuff to tell you 'bout today!

There's the awesome Capturing Creation photo challenge happening RIGHT NOW over at Yours Truly!

So...this is my first time entering a photo contest...I have lots of pictures, but it seems like I never have time to get them watermarked with the logo I made! (Well...that and the fact that GIMP tends to not like me...grrrrrr) So, since GIMP hates me I've just done the quick-fix with Paint.

So, here's my entries for today's first theme "Let there be Light"!

PS Soon to come (yes...I have thus far failed to get those tech reviews I promised...soon!) within the next couple days, a blog post about what I did last night! Had an epically awesome time at the Nothing and Everything Tour that stopped near me, awesome bands RED & Disciple!!!

Book Rant Warning!

hmmnnn...well, well, well...what to blog about?

I guess everything's going good for me here.
School is well...school...normally homeschool is pretty laid back but with my online classes I really have to step up my game! haha So that can be rather stressful...especially when ones Spanish course was obviously written but well...idiots to tell you the truth.
Its a long story I'd rather not go into...but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be dropping this course and potentially trying out a different one on a trial basis for a week or so to make sure that I won't be behind or anything.

Part of the problem really is the fact that this Spanish course is SO, SO basic, and so dumbed down that it confuses me...because the whole dumbed down and more basic than basic is pretty much the reason I left public school...when its so dumbed down that its confusing me then there is obviously something wrong.

Working on my midterm for my Web Design course...wish I could get some inspiration to make it a bit easier!

In more exciting news, I'm very much excited about going to a concert on Monday!
Yes, it is a school night and whatnot, but its just too good to pass up! Not to mention I'll be going with one of my bestest friends as well as the rest of my YoungLife group. It shall be epic and lots of fun. So, very much looking forward to that.

For anyone who wonders, I have yet to finish Iron King by Julie Kagawa.
Sadly, I just don't seem to have much time for reading what with school and everything. Not to mention the fact that nothing is really sparking my reading appetite.
I think part of the problem is that there just isn't really much good reading young adult genre right now. Everything seems to be vampire, werewolf or zombie related and that's just not exactly my slice of pie.
However, I will admit that there are a few that are worth mention that I have enjoyed.

If you're totally and completely opposed to "magic", zombies, werewolves, vamps and the like, feel free to skip the next paragraph as you see fit.

Worthy of honorable mention for a vampire book that I read and enjoyed is Melissa De La Cruz's Blue Bloods series.

Though it has its questionable content (everything does nowadays...), I enjoyed the series because the author has a great writing style, as well as a fantastic knack for weaving various myths, legends and lore, together to create an intriguing and original story...though definitely not Biblically accurate (in her series the "vampires" were the former angels who fell with Lucifer) it is just meant to be fiction.

As far as the whole "werewolves" thing goes, there's really only one book in my opinion that stepped above and beyond for me. Author Maggie Stiefvater took the whole "werewolf" thing and created a whole new story and spin on it in her book Shiver.

You see, in this story its not a silver bullet, full-moon werewolf, they change when they're cold and in the sequel Linger (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!) she puts a science spin on it. It was totally original and I loved it. For my full review of Shiver you can head on over and read it HERE at Randomly Reading.

And so we've come to "zombies".
The whole dead thing has never been anything I like to go near...ick.
And honestly, I never thought I'd see the day where I'd even read something with zombies in it...never ever.
But! I proved myself wrong when I was enticed by what looked to be a potentially good read. Infinity by Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Though filled with tons of action and undead butt whoopin...there is a little too much content for my taste, but it was a rather great story.

The biggest thing with all three of those, is the originality.
Everything even scarcely related to "vampires" or "werewolves" as of late is pretty much completely unoriginal.
Sorry to anyone who's big into Twilight, but the books are overrated, Stephenie Meyer's writing is really not that good (though she does get better as the books progress...I will give her that), and its really not all that original!

Basically, its all pretty much same-ol', same-ol' which well...GETS old, which is why the biggest judge for me, is how original the author was.
For more of my feelings on books as well as whats-hot and whats-not in YA reading, make sure to head on over and check out Randomly Reading!

Hopefully I didn't bore you all to death...or insult anyone too badly...haha
Comment, I would love to know what you think!

Blessings to you all!

I love it...

Do you think you are a nice person?
Yeah...I think so...haha

Who do you hate right now?
I don't hate anyone...I don't even like so much as using the word "hate" because well...its just too strong a word and as a Christian I'm supposed to love people. Don't get me wrong though, there are people I seriously dislike and prefer not to be around, but just because you love people doesn't necessarily mean you have to like them.

Who is the last person you yelled at?

My mom :)

Heya!

Yes, I am aware that I have already posted (the tag below) today, but! I wanted to share something real quick!

Been busy with school and whatnot during the week (of course), but for those of you who haven't checked out my book review blog Randomly Reading, you should consider heading on over and taking a look!

I have a new book review up this week, Wondrous Strange by Leslie Livingston.

What are you waiting for? Read on! haha

PS Next week a special review on Beastly by Alex Flinn...some of you may have seen the preview for the movie starring Vanessa Hudgens (hoping this is a role she might actually do well in...) which was supposed to come out this summer but was pushed back 'til next year. Its a modern day Beauty & the Beast tale. Anyways, here's the movie trailer and a special preview of the book review!

***Viewer Disgretion Advised for short flashes of violence and cussing (though definitely nothing worse than PG...it IS a preview)***

(from the inside flap)
I AM A BEAST
A beast. Not quite a wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore.
       I am a monster.
You think I’m talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. Its no deformity, no disease. And I’ll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I’ll tell you. I’ll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I’ll tell you how I became perfectly…beastly.

Blessings!

I Have Been Tagged!

*gasp*
Its my first official tag!
Thanks to Emily of Grace Like Rain for tagging me!

The Rules:
You are given 8 questions from the person who tagged you before, your job is to answer them, write 8 questions of your own, then tag 8 people with your questions.

1. What's your favorite subject?
My favorite subject this year is probably my Forensic Science course.
I was originally going to do Chemistry but that fell through (a mess I'd rather not go into right now). Its my favorite because its my best!

2. Who is your favorite actor/actress?
Hmmnnn...that is rather a hard one! I think my favorite actress would probably have to be Kristen Bell because she's SO funny! Then again I like Helena Bonham Carter for her aptitude at really getting into a role and being unrecognizeable!
My favorite actor would have to be Johnny Depp because of his awesome actor skillz...or Christian Bale 'cause he was an awesome batman.

3. Do you prefer boots, flip-flops, or sneakers?
Now that IS a hard one! Honestly I prefer going barefoot ;) But! If I absolutely had to choose, I luvs me some awesome boots!

4. If you were stranded on a remote island in the middle of nowhere, what 5 foods, 5 books, 5 electronic devices, and 5 beverages would you bring?

haha! This poses to be a very lengthy answer!
I would have to pick some things that I could make lots of stuff out of...so, my Five Foods would have to be:
1. eggs
2. bread
3. fruit
4. cheese
5. meat
(yes I know...I thought all logically and whatnot...not really the funnest or most interesting answers there ;)

Five Books:
1. my Bible
2. my sketch book
3. The Notebook (no...not the novel lol...s'what I call my notebook aka my soul on paper
4. anything by Jenny B. Jones
5. Souled Out by Melody Carlson

Five Electronic Devices:
1. my computer (it has everything on it!)
2. my iPod (luvs me my music!!!)
3. camera
4. Satellite hook up so I can get WiFi (haha I don't think this is  much of a "remote"  island anymore is it?)
5. a power generator

Five Beverages:
1. water (but of course lol)
2. JONES Soda in Green Apple and Cream Soda (haha BEST SODA EVER)
3. IZZE's in Blackberry and Pomegranate
4. Lime Juice and Sprite
5. Orange Juice (vitamin C is a good idea for survival lolz)

5. What's your favorite desert?
hmmnnn...so hard! lol
I think I would have to choose the triple chocolate brownies that my boss makes (they're SOOOO good!!!)

6. Would you rather live in the country or the city?
I live in a small town...and I do believe I prefer it to living in the city...however I'm in no way one for farm life...I think somewhere in between is probably the best answer!

7. If you were to travel the world, what country would you go to first?
I would want to to go Egypt, I've studied Egyptology and have always had an interest in it.

8. What color do you wear most often?
I think probably black...I usually always wear black as well as some other colors.

Here are my 8 questions:

1. What is your favorite color?
2. If you could have any one talent, what would it be and why?
3. If you had to pick one band to see in concert, who would it be?
4. What is one country you would like to go on a missions trip to one day?
5. Who is your favorite author and why?
6. What is the biggest purchase you've ever saved long and hard for?

Getting To Know Me Thursday: I LOVE Music!!!

Getting to Know Me Thursday idea by Emily from Grace Like Rain
yes ;) this is my iPod

I LOVE MUSIC!!!

There's nothing quite like music...its like the pulse of the world...
music is life...

I'm almost always listening to music...when I do math...forensic science...chores...walking to the store...checking the mail...everything

And I'm pretty diverse in the genres and music styles I listen to...everything from Enya to Flyleaf...Family Force 5 to Gaelic Storm...Casting Crowns to CREED...tobyMac to Paramore...

But my favorite band?

Flyleaf

Lacey Mosley has an amazing voice...from screaming in songs, to singing to the acoustics...its awesome.

*I would like to note both of these videos are more than a few years old*

Postlessness

Sorry for the lack of posting!

Oh and yes...I have forgotten! Emily of Grace Like Rain tagged me the other day and I went and answered again, but couldn't think of any questions so the tag is still sitting in my draft box...oops! I need to figure out some questions and pass along the tag! Hopefully I'll have that done soon!

Well, I've been busy busy still.
I had my last day of work on Sunday, I loved the job and am extremely grateful for it and am hoping to have it again next year, but I sure am  looking forward to sleeping in next weekend!

What I'm Reading Now

For anyone who wonders or has noticed, SO sorry I haven't had a new book review at Randomly Reading in FOREVER, I think the problem is that its not that I don't have book reviews/books to review, its that I have SO many written ahead that I forget to post new ones every week! I'll probably go and post a new one today I think.

Something I do believe I've forgotten to mention before...but my FAVORITE band is Flyleaf. Lacey Mosley-Strum has an absolutely awesome voice! Well, for my birthday, my awesome friend Nicole made made me a shirt with Flyleaf's logo on it!

 SO awesome right?!
I absolutely LOVE it...and so do a few other people I know that have been trying to steal it ;) haha

Well...time to get back to work...Math next!

hope you're all having an awesome and blessed week!

Isn't It Plain?

I wrote this for all the people in my life who need to know...
So today I ask you...isn't it plain?

Isn’t It Plain?

I cannot express
I cannot explain
God to you
Isn’t it plain?

His love for you?
His protection?
His care?
Look back on your life,
When was He there?
Forever,
For always,
He never leaves your side
He loves
He cares
So much
He suffered
He bled
He died
Don’t you see,
His work in you?
His work in me?
He’s always there
By your side
But in your heart
He can abide
He lives in me
Let Him live in you
Only you can decide

I cannot express
I cannot explain

God to you
Isn’t it plain?
